It is never too early to start providing the kinds of experiences that will help our children enter school ready to succeed. HFTH’s "School Readiness" initiative refers to the academic, independence, communication, and social skills children need to do well in school, and requires that all children have their basic needs met (i.e. clothing, breakfast, books, and school supplies).  As a participant in our 4th  Annual “HFTH BACK TO SCHOOL JAMBOREE”,  just BUY, BAG, AND BRING school bags stuffed with much needed supplies to our care center at 1035 Donnelly Avenue S.W. Atlanta, Georgia 30310 . Our care center is open Monday thru Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and we will gladly accept your donations. Our event will be July 11, 2009 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. We have identified 3,000 children that will go back to school with all the tools necessary with your help!
 
This event was established as a result of recognizing that:

• Approximately 12% of the Atlanta Public School students are homeless .
• Another large percentage is the working poor who spend over 50% of their income for rent.
• Many families are a few checks away from being homeless due to unemployment and a lack of health insuranc.

For forty years we have served the poor with the help of others. This is a win-win to ensure no child is left behind by sending each needy child back to school prepared with an honest beginning, not hampered and stymied from the beginning because of a lack of school supplies. That is not a fair start in life.
     
There are three ways you can help:

1. Give us the opportunity to buy the items at our already negotiated reduced rate by making all CHECKS payable to HOSEA FEED THE HUNGRY and putting “Back To School Jamboree” in the “For” line of your check and mailing it to “HFTH Back To School Jamboree”. P.O. Box 4672, Atlanta, GA 30310
2. Donate GIFT CARDS to us. Purchase them and mail them in to us or drop them by the HFTH Care Center at 1035 Donnelly Avenue SW Atlanta 30310
3. Sponsor a table at the event for your company and distribute book bags. This is a great employee initiative and with the appropriate signage and free paraphernalia your company can have great visibility. Your company’s logo will be placed on our website for over 70,000 people to see and your banner will be clearly visible for the media who attend the event.
